Thank you for all of your support and inspiration in 2011. It was a great year that just flew by, now onto new adventures in 2012! I am looking forward to new designs, directions, and creative journeys. I just need to figure out where to start first!!

Gallery Time...

Last night was the 6x6 show at the Infantree Gallery in Lancaster, PA. Artists from all over the area submitted small 6x6 works of art. This was my second year, and hopefully the 4 creations I made have new homes! These ladies were a labor of love (not money, that's for sure, I probably made 10 cents an hour in the end--LOL!). I spent a ridiculous amount of time creating them... between normal daily creative time and time for these, I was double-shifting it all week.

I decided if I was going to do this project for the show I was going to have fun playing and learning a new technique. Mission accomplished! I learned how to dye clay, now I am addicted!! The colors are so vibrant and flow together beautifully. There is a Zen to watching the inks and dyes flow together, and trying to control them for aesthetically pleasing results. They have a mind of their own, you just have to encourage them, cross your fingers, and "go with the flow".

I look forward to scaling these down and incorporating my new found love into my beads and jewelry creations. I'll keep you posted, I have a few pieces started, I just need to finish them...ahhh the story of my life!

Something New, Wire Wrapped Crystal Ornaments!

Something new ... giant Wire Wrapped Quartz Crystal ornaments! Each one features a large quartz crystal, or cluster of crystals, wrapped in super heavy gauge copper or aluminum wire. I'm so excited about these, they've rejuvenated my creative spirit on every level! They are packed with energy and look magnificent in a window, on the tree, outside, inside, anywhere! They look like icicles wrapped in swirls of wire.

For years I've contemplated making "Window Jewelry" with the name Sculpted Windows Jewelry ...you'd think I would have tried making some actual window jewelry sooner!! It one of those things I've been saying I'm going to try forever, and I never take time out to try ...after 8 years, I FINALLY sat down and and made it happen.

The aluminum wrapped cluster at the top of this entry was inspired by a painting I bought from Gallery Z on etsy. A guardian angel watching over a city of crystals. I fell in love with the painting, I couldn't stop looking at it. Despite a tight budget, I had to splurge. It inspired me, how could I live without her :).

This was the perfect break from the holiday chaos. A little play-time that was good for the soul ...and for re-charging the batteries. I had a blast working on these, if my hands weren't tired out I'd be making more right now. They are addictive! Working with 12, 14, and 16 gauge wire takes some serious strength and I thought I was tough.

Hope you are enjoying the start of the holiday season. If you're getting stressed I hope you can take a little time to play, I highly recommend it!

A Butterfly Emerges from the Snow!

What a weird couple weeks it has been!! A freak snowstorm before the leaves fell off the trees for the season and I finally passed my kidney stone! I am feeling sooooooo much better--HOORAY!! I thought it could not get any better ...until Tuesday ...

Zeus (our little wiener dog) found a butterfly trapped in the snow in our back yard. It is much warmer after the storm and the snow is melting, I thought the butterfly was dead until I saw it move. One of its wings was trapped in the snow and it was exhausted and cold. It was an amazing sight, I have never seen a butterfly in the snow. I love making winter clay designs with butterflies and after 39 years I finally got to see one. It was really quite amazing, especially the fact that it was still alive.

I could not resist giving the little guy a boost out of the snow and into the sun so it could warm up and fly away. I took a bunch of beautiful pictures and a short video of his taking off from the snow. It took him a about 20 minutes to warm up, a few trial flights, and then he was up and away. What a sight to see a butterfly flitting around with snow on the ground. Absolutely inspiring ...now I definitely need to make some snowy butterfly designs!!

BEES!

I couldn't help but share a picture of our pumpkin bees. The colors are amazing and luckily they are friendly bees that do not mind having their picture taken.

I have a giant pumpkin plant growing in the flower bed outside our front door and the bees are CRAZY over the flowers. I contemplate pulling the pumpkin out as it is over-running eveything. But watching these critters is like watching goldfish! It is addictive.

Each flower only lasts one day. They open in the morning and the bees sit inside non-stop until late afternoon, when the flower closes up and dies off. They will fight for space inside the flowers until they lose their little legs. They must be some of the tastiest flowers around!!

New Paua Shell Mermaid Beads

This week it is Paua Shell Mermaids! I created a bunch of Paua shell mermaids and I have 2 Norwegian Moonstone ladies that hid while I was taking pictures. I guess it was a week of iridescent backdrops and metallic clay. Lots of shimmer and shine in these pieces. I have worked on them countless hours, lots of love has gone into each one. It always amazes me how few pieces it looks like there is in a batch, but there's SOOOOO much detail in each one.

New Pieces ready for this Weekend!

These are the pretty ladies I have been working on this week!! Purples and turquoises were the colors I indulged in. Amethyst slices, turquoise, howlite, lavender marble, mother of pearl and more! There's one in the batch I may not be able to part with. It has been awhile since I fell in love with a piece like I have with her. I am inspired, hope you are too!

I have been working steadily however, our humidity and temperatures have been in the 100's all week, and even managed to reach 105 degrees -with a heat index of 121 degrees yesterday! Thank goodness for Air Conditioning! Even with the A/C the humidity causes my glazes and adhesives to dry very, VERY slow. We do not have a dehumidifier to help, so I am at the whim of nature when it comes to the humidity. Hopefully next week will bring some relief, I dread August as it is usually even hotter than July!

I'll begin listing these in my etsy shop tonight, I'm a slow lister, if I'm able they'll all be listed...if I'm extra slow, the rest will be listed tomorrow night. I have a few more unfinished pieces on my bench, they will be my weekend project. Not sure what next week will bring, my heart is torn. It's Mermaid Season!!

It's mermaid season around here! That means mermaids, mermaids, & more mermaids everywhere. Last week they were an obsession. All I could think of was mermaid beads.

Today, I spent the entire day listing them on etsy. Many are going to be hard to part with, but I know there will be more in the future.

They deserve a better home than I can provide. It isn't fair to make them sit, locked away in my hoard of pretties. :) I'm sharing lots of pictures, hope you enjoy the view. Have a great week and be inspired!

Lots of Geode Earrings & Pendants on the Way

Finally the jewelry bug bit me! I found a bunch of tiny geodes and beautiful new stones at a recent gem show. The geodes are some of the most amazing natural geodes I have ever found. Tiny little ones in so many beautiful (natural) colors and glittering druzy centers.... mmmmMMMMmmmmm!

They inspired me to pick up my pliers and wire again! I was obsessed for days, the only thing that stopped me is knowing I should take pics and list them. They do not appreciate sitting on my work bench, they need homes where they can be enjoyed! I'll be listing these over the weekend.

It has been a few weeks since I worked with my wire and I must say it felt good to get back in the groove. I am hoping to have a healthier balance between my clay and wire again. We'll see what the hands and mind decide :).

New faces!!

Lots of new faces in the works including spring inspired pieces and new ethnic designs. I can't wait for spring, it is COOOOOLLD out here again. Thank goodness we had a little warm-up for inspiration. I can't wait for leaves, flowers, butterflies, sunshine, & short sleeves again!

I have had several requests for different skintones including sun-tones and ethnic shades. I've been working hard to perfect them. I like the light peachy blend I have been using, but I have to admit ...having Native American blood in me, the color I've been using (light flesh) is FAR FAR lighter than my natural skintone is (and was even on the day I was born). So, I finally decided to work on more realistic hues. They are semi-translucent blends that look like real flesh or fine porcelain. I am loving them!! I will be incorpoating them in all of my designs as time goes on. I am still trying to decide how to standardize the colors to keep them consistent. This way pieces can be matched over time. I am thinking levels of shading and indicating undertones will work best... I'll get it figured out eventually. :)

New Wire Wrapped Jewelry on the Way!

Just finishing up a batch of new Wire Wrapped pretties! I think Valentine's Day crept into my brain finally... pinks, greens, and hearts. "Greens?" you ask... why yes, they are as essential for the heart chakra as pink is.

I have also been working more on wire weaving too. I weave here and there and just haven't given it the time it deserves. I would like to incorporate more weaving into my designs and come up with some new pieces. The earrings in the lower-right corner were created (by me) from a pattern in Jodi Bombardier's new book Weave, Wrap, Coil. A great book if you are a wire jewelry nut (like me). She shares some nice projects that are a good springboard for coming up with new designs. It is good for the beginner to a seasoned wrapper like me. My friend Kerri & I enjoyed working on a few of the projects in it last week. It's been awhile since I found a wire book I liked, thank you Jodi.

Just a quick note to say Happy 2011!! Thank you for all of your support and kindness in 2010, it means the world too me. I am thankful every day. The year went by so fast I can't believe it... I'm not sure if that's just part of getting older, or if it was a crazy year. LOL

I am looking forward to the new year & I hope you are too. 2010 was a tough one for many of us, including our oceans and planet. I hope 2011 is a year of renewal, adventure, happiness, new opportunities, and creative endeavors for all of us. Wishing you much happiness and many blessings this year.

Our fur-kids are finally sleeping after an entire day of playing with the toys Santa brought them. Now it's time for us to play with our toys! New wire, and books, and pliers, and clay... oh my, I don't know where to begin!!! Actually I dove into the candy first, now for the toys!

A Lucky December Lady Bug

I sat down to work at my bench this morning and a little ladybug came out from between my stones to say hello. She must have hitched a ride inside on my shoulder looking for a warmer place to live as winter takes hold. It has been very cold here! I love the holidays, but hate the cold. I have already broken out the alpaca socks, long underwear, fleece lined jeans, scarves, wool coats, and heating blankets... does this give you an idea of how much I like to keep warm.

A nice December 1st surprise; must be Mother Nature's way of thanking me for sending Mom Ladybugs for her garden this past Mother's Day. I attempted to take her outside and she flew away before we made it to the door, so she is hiding somewhere in the house. I hope she finds a warm place to curl up and sleep through the winter, she is a welcome house guest. I don't blame here for sneaking in, if she were a spider or stinkbug I'm not sure I would be as understanding --LOL.

As you can see there's plenty on my bench waiting to be wrapped. A handful are finished and waiting for polishing. It's going to take some getting used to... polishing in 30 degree weather is not fun! BrrrrrRRrrr!

Dioptase Jewelry on the Way!

I've had a few inquiries about dioptase and wanted to give you an update. These are the new dioptase pieces I've been working on. I will be listing them on ebay tonight into tomorrow. I only have a piece or two left to wrap, sadly this will be about all I have in dioptase between now and the holidays. Sorry, I wish I could find more but I haven't had much luck. It has become a difficult gem to find since the mine was closed. Most of what I found at our recent shows were not suitable for jewelry, it would not hold up to wear and tear.

If you're not familiar with dioptase it is one of my personal favorites... deep emerald green crystals with nice surface shine and sparkle that no other natural green gem even comes close to. If you love emerald, dioptase is even prettier, it is what most emeralds available to us today aspire to be. Being a May baby, I can't help but be drawn to it!

Lots & Lots & Lots of new clay and Jewelry!

I have been addicted to earrings lately! Wire wrapped earrings and I even sported for a few pairs with clay. Lots of tiny geodes, a once in a lifetime pair of dioptase druzy earrings, and classic wire wrapped cabochons. It has been fun. I haven't made intricate earrings in months and the bug finally bit me. I also wrapped a few crystals and color druzy pieces. I have a few challenging stones I am trying to figure out how to best wrap. I'm probably one of the few that walks around with their brain literally tied in knots, knots of wire, thinking and planning of how to wind them around certain stones.

Aside from keeping busy making new pieces, I did a quick inventory and my eyes almost fell out of my head.... I could not believe how many extra pieces I have that aren't listed!! So, needless to say I have to get listing! I am the slowest lister in the world, and I am easily distracted, so I will be chaining myself to my desk to get them posted on etsy and ebay this week!!

Meet Zeus, 4 pounds of puppy love and energy that will melt your heart!

It's been a VERY tough month in our house. After much thought and consideration we decided to take the plunge. Sallie and all of us were having a rough time on our own, and we know Ollie would not have wanted Sallie or any of us to be sad. Zeus is the newest member of our family and he is keeping us busy, especially Sallie!

It's been nice seeing her play and have purpose again. She likes to watch over everyone and is trying hard to keep Zeus in line. She's very good at tattling on him and is trying to teach him to be a good boy. He's quite a character and learning more and more every day!! I just wish the rainy, cold weather would let up a little, it's been rough "pottty-training" him. Short legs and cold wet grass are not a dachshund puppy's friend!

What's Cooking???

This week has been dedicated to Leaf Ladies. Lots and Lots of Leaf Lady beads and cabochons. Due to our hot and extremely dry summer the leaves are falling early and at an alarming rate! I wanted to make sure I made some leafy pieces before the leaves are gone for the year. The pictures here are of the ladies that are in progress. I still need to paint and seal them. They will be ready in the next few days.

A huge thank you to everyone for your support and understanding the last couple of weeks. It has taken me a bit to get back on track after losing Ollie. I have been busy, but allowed my hands and some time to create what they wanted to create... the zen of creativity is one of the best ways to heal. (Sallie was also a big-little helper too).

I am still a bit behind on custom requests and just starting to get them completed... if you are waiting for a piece please feel free to send me a reminder. I have a list here but with everything going topsy-turvy a reminder will be appreciated!!

Ollie Hopnoodle

This post is for Ollie and all of his friends that have sent well wishes, love, and goodies his way over the years. After 15 years with us, the angels took him this morning. He was at home with his family, and even though he was 15+ years old, it was still a shock. He's made it through so many rough patches in his life we thought he might outlive us all.

As much as I know he is in a better place, it is hard to imagine life without him. He was an old soul who touched many hearts and owned ours (and he knew it). Ollie, we miss you more than you can imagine!

Thank you to our family, friends, and all who have touched Ollie's life and ours.

A Wire Wrapped Crown fit for the Queen!!

And the Queen's Crown is finished!! The big project of the summer has been creating a wire wrapped crown for the Queen of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Mission completed and I am so happy... but I have to admit, I'm having separation anxiety now that the crown is in the hands (or on the head) of the Queen! After having it in my studio, and wearing it, I think every woman should have a crown she can put on now and then to be queen for a day. I must admit it is a fun indulgence, I never would have imagined!

This project was the most challenging one I have ever taken on. I have to thank my friend Katie Wallace, costume designer and costume dep't manager for the PA Ren Faire. When she first asked me about doing a crown I thought she was crazy... then I started thinking... and then, before I knew it I was obsessed with figuring it out! Katie is always pushing me to create bigger and better pieces, and this was the ultimate challenge!!!

The gown Katie designed and created with her team is absolutely stunning. Adding the hours in the crown and the gown we figure there's a 1000+ hours of labor and design time invested. The gown is all handmade, encrusted with Swarovski jewels and custom embroidery, it is really something to see. When it all came together we couldn't help but get a bit weepy.

The crown started with fabric swatches, a pile of wire, a dozen Swarovski Jewels, rough sketches, pliers, cutters, reading glasses, ready hands, and lots of determination. 200+ hours later, over the course of 2 months, it was all transformed into a magnificent crown. I could write a book about it all, it was quite a journey, one that included poking myself in the eye for the first time in my career. I don't plan on doing that again any time soon!

There are zero "cheats" ...this crown is 100% hand made... no glue, no solder, no power tools... just skilled hands, wire, jewels, and pearls. I think I am most proud of how comfortable it is on the head and that it really reflects me and my style of wire wrap. When you see it you know it was made by me. I'm looking forward to making another one... after wearing it, I need one too!! I will definitely be dabbling with new crown ideas and designs in the future.

We're Back from our Travels...

We're back from our travels! I had fun while we were away but I'm ready to get creating again!! We packed as much as we could in those 6 days... A gem show in Syracuse, visited family in Utica, and went hiking on Ithaca. The picture above is from one of our hikes in Ithaca, I couldn't help but add a smiley face to gorge wall, it was such a neat formation. Second picture is of me, skipping pieces of slate across the water. Go figure our vacation would include rocks!

I'm looking forward to getting back in the groove. I will be finishing up my Renaissance crown project and then onto jewelry and clay. I fond many treasures during our travels, new stones and crystals, as well as new toys for my clay!! Can't wait to dig into them!!!! Have a great weekend and I will try to get some pictures of the crown posted this weekend.

New Clay Designs, inspired by the sea...

I have been busy... or perhaps obsessed would better describe it! I have been creating like crazy this past week and now I need to get listing! I have been working on jewelry, and clay, and the Queen's crown for the PA Renaissance Faire. Lots of different things!! I will be sure to share some of my progress over the next few days. I know it's been awhile, catching up is in order!! When I get on a creative binge there is no stopping me. For those of you waiting for a hello or reply, bear with me :).

Tonight, I wanted to share a few pieces that were and idea I have been carrying around in my head for weeks. I finally brought the vision to life and I'm in love!! Stumbling upon pieces of natural paua shell in my stash, and the daily news on the oil spill in the Gulf, inspired these. They are a combination of my clay and the pieces of natural shell I found.

With memories of snorkeling the reefs when I lived in Florida, I can say there is nothing like the beauty of the sea and all of her colorful creatures.

For these pieces, I envisioned Mother Nature watching over her ocean creatures... tiny sea turtles, shells, and starfishes... I see her looking up at them and hopefully guiding as many as she can to safety. The paua shell looks like the shimmering sea in the background and the scenery is all polymer clay, handcrafted by me :).

The Key to My Heart...

This is a new twist on an "old" design and, I am in love with her!! I call her "The Key to my Heart Goddess." She is super vibrant red (cadmium red) polymer clay that has been antiqued with black acrylic. After stamping and forming her I pierced her heart with a brass metal key. She holds the key to her own heart... perhaps the creative side of her heart anyway! :)

A Week of Custom Creations!

The past couple of weeks I have been creating lots of custom jewelry! Necklaces, Pendants, and Earrings --and believe it or not I have been asked by the Queen of the PA Renaissance Fair to create a crown!! (Okay, it wasn't the Queen, it was her costume designer, Katie).

I wanted to share a few of the beautiful pieces that were sent to me to become jewelry. I love wrapping special pieces for others... it is so amazing seeing something that has been treasured become a wearable piece of art. Many times it is like christmas for me to reveal the finished piece... the anticipation of waiting to see if they love it and if I exceeded their expectations is awesome.

I also like the challenge of wrapping things I did not pick out. It can really push your brain and hands to try new things. Without realizing it I am often drawn to similar shapes and cuts, and when someone sends a stone they picked out it, can be quite challenging. It is a good way to get the brain working, expand my skills, and discover new designs and techniques. It can be overwhelming at times, when I'm faced with an awkward or unusual piece, but somehow it all seems to come together and work out. I carry ideas around in my head for days, the light goes off and bam, I'm running for my bench to get working on my idea -even if it's 2am!

The crown for The Queen is going to take a few weeks, it is one of the most challenging pieces I have been asked to create aside from an egg stand and a remote control holder! I will be sure to share some pictures of the journey. I just received her jewels and will be starting next week.

American Flag Lady Cameos

I could not help but create a few flag ladies in honor of this special day. All of the colors are created with many different shades of polymer clay, with the exception of the burnt umber antiquing, applied to the surface of the ecru clay to bring the detail to life.

My New Toy!

Ian got me a new toy for my birthday --and it is AWESOME!! I have 101 things to do, but when a girl has a new toy she's just gotta play! I had to share a few pictures of me with my new lapidary wheel. Now I can cut, trim, and polish stones and it is SOOOOOO addictive!

It's been a couple years since I cabbed, but once the wheel started spinning, and the water was dripping, I was in heaven! I was able to trim some beautiful crystals and stones that I've been dying to wrap. The possibilities are endless and I'm excited to go to the next gem show in a few weeks!

Ollie was curious and insisted on checking the new member of the household out. I tried trimming his nails, but he didn't think that was such a good idea. Guess I'll have to stick to stones!

Funny to be in an eye themed treasury when I have an optometry appointment for new glasses in 2 days -LOL.

Helicopter Girls are Back!

Helicopter girls are back! For a short time we are being showered with maple seeds and I will be making helicopter girl cameos. Each of the intricate seeds adorning these fairy girls is a clay impression of a real maple tree seed. Each seed can only be pressed into the clay once, so they are all one-of-a kind.

For me, these cameos are fond childhood memories brought to life, to be enjoyed forever. Memories of throwing handfuls of maple seeds into the air, to watch them float their way down to earth. Spinning all the way, like tiny helicopter blades, OR perhaps they are tiny helicopter fairies raining down from heaven.

Each is a fusion of Mother Nature's finest and a little creative imagination. Hope they make you smile!

I know I haven't posted in awhile but I'm baaaack. I have a lot in the works!! Clay and jewelry are taking over my bench. I thought I would share pictures of clay in progress. Everything is wrapped in plastic to prevent dust contamination; springtime is dust (and allergy) season here in PA. After a week I have about 85 pieces to list and a dozen or two to finish painting. There is a mix of everything, I just went crazy, and it felt good! Leaf ladies are starting again... leaves tough enough to use with clay are sparse right now, but I managed to find a few after several walks in the neighborhood park. I can't wait for more leaves, that's when you know warm weather is here to stay for awhile!

I also have a bunch of new jewelry to polish and fine tune. I need to gather it all up and spend an afternoon outside polishing. It's a dirty job, but the final result makes it worth the extra step. I'll be sure to share some pictures of jewelry soon.

I am so glad tax season is over and creative season can begin again!!!! I didn't realize how stressed I was with taxes and Ollie not feeling well. He's back on his feet, the paperwork is done, and the weather is gorgeous... I am inspired and I hope you are too!!!

Today's featured artist is Sue Rose, a.k.a. Rosebudlia. Sue is a jewelry and textile artist in Tunbridge, Kent, United Kingdom. I recently met Sue on etsy, and feel like we've been friends for years. (How could we not bond, she is addicted to cabochons, textiles, and creating jewelry!) Her creations are amazing and inspiring. Ollie's Angels

If you've been wondering where I am or why I trailed off the radar for a bit, I apologize! Our boy Ollie fell ill and needed a stay at the Animal Hospital. Staying up with him and worrying took a toll on all of us this week, including Sallie. We're still not sure what is wrong, but he is showing improvement. They let us take him home tonight, to return tomorrow morning for another round of IV medications. He doesn't do well away from home, so we're his intensive care unit.

He's almost 15, but don't be fooled, he does everything his younger sister does, including walking a couple miles a week. He has overcome so many health scares, falls, and mishaps over the years we joke he has 9 lives... but his one really scared us (and still does until he's back on his feet).

While Ollie was away I did not know what to do with myself. I was so distracted I could not get the brain or hands to do much. I decided to create angels; I haven't created angels in a long time. It took me 3 days to create 9 of them start to finish. When I looked at them today I couldn't help but call them "Ollie's Angels." I really put my heart and a lot of love into these ladies and I hope it shows. Each one is holding a wing full of natural quartz crystals I have infused with Reiki energy. If you're wondering why there's only 8 pictured, angel #9 is hanging over Ollie's bed.

Lots of prayers, love, and Reiki seem to be helping as our boy is home tonight and resting comfortably. Hopefully his progress will continue and he'll be back to his old stubborn dachshund self soon. I miss those grumbles and barks, but we did get some kisses today!

Just a quick peek at some pieces I've been working on. This has been a mixed week of polymer clay and wire wrapping; definitely more wire than clay. I have been drawn to organic pieces and the color purple. I think the purple orchid I got for Valentine's day drew me to purple and the geodes remind me of little snow globes when they sparkle. And we have plenty of snow!!

I am officially addicted to steampunk. I have always been captivated by steampunk and gothy things... so I decided to treat myself to a batch of vintage watch parts a couple weeks ago. Once I started playing with them and setting them in my polymer clay faces I was hooked! (still working on wire wrapped ideas too). I became a junkie; I think I sat at my bench for 16 hours without looking up. Well, not 100% true, bathroom and tea breaks were definitely in there somewhere. I had a ball... the next couple days were spent detailing and finishing my new steampunk faces to bring them to life.

Once you start you can't stop! I'm not kidding. I haven't stopped thinking about more ideas since I made the first batch. My brain is going crazy with new ideas-- I need more hours in the day!!

What's steampunk some of you might be wondering? Hmmm ... imagine a science fiction world meets the Victorian era (or steam power era, hence the name). Like a steam powered computer or TV or a Victorian Doll meets Robot.

While in my creative trance I created a bunch of "gear driven" goddess faces... pretty faces with random gears, cogs, and Swarovski Crystals adorning them. Steam powered, pretty ladies, waiting for some lavish Victorian inspired adornment... perhaps some delicate bead weaving, lace, fleur-de-lis, angel wings, brass scrolls, or surgar, spice, and anything nice! I saved a few for me and can't wait to see what you create with the others!

Two Blizzards in five Days... 36 inches of snow in 5 days.... ahhh... Lancaster, PA

Okay... it was kind of fun getting 20 inches of snow Saturday night. But, to get another foot and a half today, it's gotten ridiculous! Times like these when I think... why did I leave Florida? This is the view out our living room door today... another oasis of blowing Snow! Sallie is bewildered and beside herself now.

We are officially in a state of emergency and everything is closed in the area. Needless to say, that includes the post offices. Packages should go out tomorrow, as long as the post office is open. We're crossing our fingers we keep our power and cable/internet... otherwise we'll go completely crazy!

Hope you're staying warm and cozy. We've given up on shoveling... Ollie can poop on the porch today. Actually, anyone can poop on the porch today if they want to, it's one of those kind of days! We'll shovel it up tomorrow!

Shades of Blue Sun & Moon Cameo

Today's feature is a signed celestial sun & moon cameo I created this past week... If I were going to hand you a piece of my creative soul this would be it. I put my heart into everything I make, which is probably why I am so slow when I'm working on things. But, every now and then a piece is just a little extra special... this is that piece. It's like the planets perfectly and the colors, the finishes, and the parts & pieces just united and came to life perfectly.

I can't see packing her away in a drawer, she needs to become something even more beautiful! If you decide she is the one for you, just promise you will make something beautiful with her... or if nothing else add a pin back or something simple and and wear her as she is. She needs to be enjoyed!

The heart goddess pictured here is another one of my favorites of the week... she is a large Victorian heart goddess. She's gorgeous... Oh gosh, I have to stop falling in love with these!! I will warn you, they are addictive-- to make and collect.

I know I haven't been online much the last few weeks, but I've been hard at work-- creating and learning some new things. The newest being my etsy store!!! I am so excited to start listing on etsy. I'm a little lost, but a fast learner. I remember how overwhelming ebay was in the beginning... etsy isn't over whelming, it's just a bit different.

I've had my etsy store (sculptedwindows) open for almost a week and it has been fun. I have met many nice people, and the etsy community is so kind and supportive it's real neat. I must thank those that have given me a try on etsy, I appreciate your support, as I had zero etsy feedback.

Opening a shop on etsy is something I have considered for over a year and it finally felt right. It's funny, the day after I decided to try etsy, ebay sent an email announcing more increases in their store fees. Eaby has gotten pretty insane. I do NOT plan on leaving ebay, and I'm not going to rant and whine about the changes they are making. I just want to scale my ebay inventory back some. Carrying an inventory of 600-700+ items on ebay is getting tougher and tougher. I figure I could rent an actual shop in downtown Lancaster, PA for the fees ebay is charging. That's pretty nuts!

Aside from the high fees, ebay is not a very friendly place for artists and smaller sized shops. If you're not an "Anchor Store" or an auction style lister they have made it very tough... and they've made it clear they do not care one bit about me (or you). I was getting a little burnt out with ebay. Etsy is a much warmer, straight forward operation that really caters to artists and crafters. It is going to be a nice addition to my life, much healthier for the soul, I can already tell.

I have lots of goodies to list, mostly clay. I'm not sure why, but I have been into my clay for a few weeks. I'm getting the itch for my wire again, I can feel it coming on! There is a gem show this coming weekend in Philly, I know that will get me revved up to start wrapping again. Be sure to stop by Sculpted Windows on etsy and see some of my new designs!! We Have Snow up to our Ears!

This is Sallie looking out the front door this morning. She was not expecting to see an oasis of snow drifts. The snow was deeper than she is tall-- easily up over her ears!

Wow! Did we have a snow storm last night! We went from green grass to 20+ inches overnight. Pretty intense! The snow was banked right up against the windows and doors. Sallie loves the snow and Ollie... he went back to bed. I don't blame him; if I was his age (14.5) I would go back to bed too.

We dug our way out and the Amish Bobcat Team showed up to move the snow banks when everyone was finished. Lancaster can be such a strange place sometimes. We're standing outside taking it all in after shoveling, and down the road comes 5 bobcat snow movers with Amish drivers. When you think Lancaster Amish Country, you envision the horse and carriage or sleigh... not a team of Bobcats. Oh well, they did a great job, now the horses can go back to work-- and so can we!!

Thank you for your support and kindness in 2009. It was a crazy year and I can't believe how fast it went by. I know this has been a tough year for many and I hope 2010 is a new start. May the New Year be a healthy, happy, and prosperous one for all of us!

I look forward to a new year of exploring and creating. I'm taking a little time play with clay and then onto jewelry. I have so many new ideas I wish there were more hours in the day! The cabochon above is a new design for the new year. I finished it last night, with the lyrics "It's a New Dawn, It's a New Day" in mind. Perfect sentiments for the first day of 2010.

My Chair Died!

After Thousands of hours... I mean THOUSANDS of hours, my old chair finally died! I hate to see it go... like losing an old friend. I named her Betsy, after a 1970-something Chevy Chevette my Mom owned when we were kids. Laugh if you will, but it's true, naming the car is a family tradition. Current car is the GREY PHANTOM (grey Toyota), car before was the KILLER BEE (a yellow Pontiac), car before THE RED BARON (red jeep).

Santa delivered the new chair today, he couldn't get it here in time for Christmas, so UPS delivered it today. My but thanks you Santa Ian! I'm not sure what the name will be for the new chair. It is all shiny and new, it needs a little character. I think I need to get to know her a little better before I pick a name. If you have a suggestion let me know-- I have no idea what to name this one!

Just a quick note to wish you a Merry Christmas! Thank you to everyone that sent holiday greetings. This year has gone by so fast I can't believe it!

We had a quiet Christmas at home today and it was nice. Santa was good to everyone. I got lots of new toys and books for inspiration and Ollie and Sallie had a ball opening up their presents.

The little monsters are passed out on the sofa, exhausted from all the cookies they ate and toys they played with today. They have been spoiled all week... Christmas at grandma's over the weekend and Christmas at home today! Lots of toys and treats... the ones they haven't finished eating are hidden all over the house. I found one behind the curtains, one in their cage, one between the sofa cushions, and there will probably be something hidden under my pillow when I climb into bed tonight.

A Victorian Inspired Name Pendant

Today I finished a Victorian inspired Pendant, an idea I have carried around in my brain for a long time, and never sat down to create it! This design was born years ago, while reading Love is in the Earth by Melody. I was intrigued by an excerpt in her book about pendants of the Victorian era. Pendants were created with gems that started with the letters of the wearer's name to optimize the wearer's energy field. I love this concept.

I made this first piece for a friend, I'm hoping she loves it when she receives it!! I was aiming for a free-form shape and when I was finished, I had to laugh... it is a tree shape. I did not set out to create a tree shaped pendant, it just happened.... All week I've been contemplating a live Christmas Tree I saw at the local grocery store. It was so cute, I was wishing I had just bought it, but being in a hurry and knowing I had several more errands to run, I decided against it. I think this might be a sign I need to go back and see if it's still there waiting for me!

Valentine's Day Face Cabs & Beads on the way!

I took a break from Christmas this weekend and started Valentine's faces!! I needed a little break, so I turned off the computer, tuned everything out, and played with my clay all day. I have no idea what was on TV, what I ate for dinner, or what the weather was like... I just know I brushed my teeth, got dressed, and played with clay! It was a nice to escape into my own head for an afternoon, creating little ladies adorned with hearts, butterflies, lipstick, flowers, and whatever else came to mind.

No matter how many things you have on your to-do list I think everyone should take a break and escape for a few minutes this week. You might just finish all the things on your list faster if you forget about them for awhile. If not faster, they'll be done better and with more love!

Fossil Ammonite & Geode Pendants

I'm starting out the week with Fossil Ammonite and Geode slice pendants! The natural, earthiness of these pieces has been calling me for the last few days... I thought this would be a good start to the week! Nice grounding, earthy energy to calm the holiday craziness down a little. The December First Friday showing at Gallery 141 threw my weekend schedule off... catch-up time! I have a bunch of new pieces I finished the end of last week and did not have a chance to photograph and list....I wish there were more hours in the day (don't we all, especially this time of year).

Thank you to everyone that came out to see me at Gallery 141 on Friday. It was great to meet some of you for the first time and I appreciate everyone that remembered me from last year's holiday show! The weather was beautiful, the perfect night to visit downtown Lancaster and enjoy some art, music, wine, and dinner. I hope we have more of those nights--- it's snowing and freezing raining tonight. BRRRRRrrrRRRRR!!!!!

A New batch of Wire Wrapped Earrings!

I've been back at earrings again! I think it's a winter thing... it's getting cold, time to dig out all of the winter woolies. After pulling out all of my sweaters, pretty scarves, and crazy hats I had to have earrings to match! As much as I dislike the cold I love winter clothes-- lots of fuzzies and layers of color.

If you're looking to breath some new life into your winter wardrobe try some colorful earrings! I made a couple dozen new sets of earrings with all kinds of colorful gems... Red Jasper, Lapis Lazuli, Blue Lace Agate, Apatite, Green Kyanite, Lavender Jade, Pearls, Aquamarine, Amethyst, Norwegian Moonstone, and lots more!

Thank you to all who visited me today at the Harrisburg Country Club Holiday Shopping Bazaar. It was a great day for the show. I had a great time & hope you did too. Tons of new Face Cabs on the way!

The last couple of weeks I have been hooked on making clay faces again! It's been awhile since I've craved working with my clay and the bug finally bit me again. I can't stop making them, I have been at my bench 12 to 16 hours the last few days (and longer!).

I have also been hand painting many of them. Painting has been very therapeutic, it really takes you mind off everything! It's fun to bring them to life and give them a personality. Yesterday we took a trip out to Dick Blick and I bought more paints, pencils, markers, and toys... so I know I will be trying them out this week too!!

The pieces pictured here are all cabochons (no holes) and I'll be listing them over the next few days. I think this week will be beads, I haven't made many new beads in awhile. I will also be dabbling with wire wrap too... have a couple of ideas I have to try out. Sometimes I wish I had another set of hands!! It's hard managing two loves!! MY brain wants to do both and the hands are saying hey wait a minute there's only 2 of us!!

New Wire Wrapped Earring Designs!

Last week I was stuck on making classic wire wrapped earrings... this week was all about trying new designs and ideas! Adventurous... free-form designs with woven, coiled, and smooth wire united to create some amazing earrings!

When I sat down I wasn't sure what the outcome would be... I was just having fun. Now that they are finished I'm loving these new earrings. They are kind of steampunk-- futuristic strands, lines, and coils that are oxidized to age them. I must admit, I kept a pair for me. :) It was fun changing things up and trying some new ideas. While I was working on these I thought of lots of new wire wrapped pendant designs. I just need to find some time to make them before my brain explodes!!

Hooked on Wire Wrapped Earrings!

I have been on an earring making binge this week... making wire wrapped earrings like crazy. The bug hit me Sunday night and I haven't stopped since. It started with tiny geode pairs, then rose quartz crystal clusters, and onto cabochons I've had stashed away for some time waiting for the perfect day to set them. I haven't made earrings in a long time and all of a sudden I couldn't stop making them! I ran out of the wire I use for wrapped earrings and had to stop (for now).

It is so crazy how all of a sudden you can get a craving to make something and you just HAVE to do it. When I get like this I shut everything out and just create... I forget to eat, drink, talk,.... Good thing breathing is automatic-LOL. I just put my head down, create, look up and realize the day has gone by. It's a rush. There have been times that I will wake up in the middle of the night and creep down the stairs to make things... I just wake up with an idea on my mind and have to try it.

So, if you've emailed me or called this week and haven't heard back you know why! I'm sorry, I think I have it out of my system (for now). I can feel the next round coming on... I found some of the most beautiful blue and green phantom crystals I'm dying to get my hands on!! I also found some natural rhodochrosite crystals and... and... and... oh no, I better get to bed before I start pulling everything out again!

I have another gem show this weekend. If you have a request please let me know! It's a smaller show, but I have found lots of little treasures at this one in the past!

Fall is in the Air!

Fall is in the air... pumpkins, apples, colorful leaves, Indian corn, cool nights, pie, and soup are taking over! I love this time of year, but hate seeing the leaves start to fall. The weather has been inspiring new clay designs and lots of walks. I've been dabbling in pumpkins, grapes, and mulberry leaves- and yes, a few snowflakes too.

My friend, and fellow jewelry artist, Kerri created the amazing beaded pendant (pictured above) with one of my pumpkin goddess cameos. I wanted to make sure I shared this piece with you before it's gone!

When I created the cameo I never imagined it would become something so beautiful. Kerri worked her magic and really brought this piece to life. This pendant, and a lot of other pretties are available in Kerri's etsy store, Beadworks by Kerri. Thank you Kerri for allowing me to share your pumpkin goddess pendant with everyone!

Oh my, do I have a lot of stones and crystals!!! I didn't realize just HOW MANY until I started re-organizing everything today. I'm not sure if I'll ever be finished!! My old system just wasn't working and needed to be torn apart and re-done... When the stones are in disarray, my brain is in disarray... so this is something I HAD to do before I go crazy!

While finding space for the new pieces I have discovered many old treasures I forgot about. I'm trying to remain focused, but it's SOOOOOO HARD! The more pieces I find and see together the more I want to start wrapping them. I must resist temptation!! I must!

If there's a stone you've been looking for don't be afraid to ask, I just might have a piece! I think I am going to take pictures of some of my stock trays and share some stones with you over the next few weeks. I wish my hands could wrap them faster --I hate seeing them all locked up in trays---they need to be shared and enjoyed!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We have had the most beautiful weather! We went to a local art show and it was amazing (Long's Park Fine Art Show) ... so many talented artists and such a nice mix of things to see. It was real inspiring!

Last week I bought sunflowers and made a bunch of fall inspired clay.... the flower man wasn't there this week so colorful jewelry it is!

These are some of the new finds from last weeks gem show-- a rainbow of phantom quartz crystals!! It is amazing the colors quartz comes in--the possibilities are endless!! I think that's why it is my all time favorite stone to collect and wrap! I found a bunch of new colors and varieties, many I have never seen in person until now. It's going to be hard to let some of them go, but I can't keep hoarding them. They are to pretty to sit hidden away in my collection; they need to be enjoyed. Ahhh, back from the Show and trouble with ebay!

Hi! I'm back from the Gem Show and have a lot of organizing and catching up to do! I will be sure to photograph and share some of my new treasures--they are BEAUTIFUL! Kerri and I had a fun and EXHAUSTING trip... 6 hours driving there, 2 hours of sleep, 8 hours at the show, followed immediately by 8 hours of driving home (with a dinner break). I would do it all over again, but it took me 2 days to receover--next year, I'll be spending an extra day!

I found lots of new Phantom Quartz Crystals, Aquamarine, Rose Quartz, Faden Quartz, Dark Purple Brandberg Amethyst, and lots more new pieces I'm excited to work with this week. I had one mishap... All of the Green phantom quartz I bought was lost at the show... I am so upset. It's not the expense of the loss.... I was SO looking forward to working with the amazing dark green crystals I found... and they weren't in my bag when I got home!!! I called the vendor and haven't heard back. I'm hoping I left them at the stand I bought them from, my fingers are crossed. :(

I like many people out there am affected by the ebay-Comcast outage.... I can not get into my ebay store to list new items and to send messages... you may not be bale to buy from my store until this mess is solved. I haven't been able to get in since Saturday! Ebay blames Comcast and Comcast blames ebay... I don't care whose fault it is... they need to stop the finger pointing and fix the problem. MANY, many people are stuck and have been for 3 days now!!!! IF you are affected be sure to report it to ebay--it's the only way they will fix the problem. To read/complain about the problem visit the ebay technical chat board.

I've been busy again! I'm wrapping my fingers off now that I've kicked my cold! So far this week I have Aqua Aura Quartz, 4 pieces of Super Seven Melody's Stone, Pyrite Ammonite Fossil, Russian Interference Quartz, Black tourmaline with Quartz & Feldspar crystals encrusting it, Amethyst Spirit Quartz, Tangerine Quartz, and Vintage Czech Glass. These will be appearing tonight into tomorrow morning and there will be more soon-- I'm obsessed! I have to take a bit of a break tomorrow to finish a few clay projects and to soften my fingers up--- then back to my new stones and wrapping!

Back from the road... off to a slow start

We're home from our trip to New York! Aside from all kinds of amazing stones and new toys I also brought home a cold. Today is the first day I feel like I'm beginning to win the battle with this nasty bug.

I wanted to share pictures of some of the pieces I've been working on. Even feeling under the weather can't stop me from wrapping my new treasures--- I'm just a little slower than I would normally be. Maybe not slower... I just can't stay up 'til 3:00 am playing (oops, creating). These will be debuting on Friday, which is technically today. I better get to bed so I can wake up and start listing!

Hello from the Road!

Hi from the road! We're on our annual summer trip to NY to attend a gem show, visit family, and to go hiking. Ollie and Sallie have become to old to send to the kennel... Mom and Sis are watching them while we sneak away for a few days to go hiking and rock collecting :).

We'll be back home Friday evening and I'll be up and running again Saturday! I found SO MANY beautiful crystals and stones at the gem show my fingers are dying to start wrapping them! I also found some new toys for my clay designs--- new colors and dyes and stamps for impressions.

I love hiking up here in Central NY... but I miss creating too, and I miss Ollie and Sallie while they are and Babcie's house!!

Wow.... I didn't realize how long it's been since I blogged.... so many things to share! I have been working on new clay and jewelry like crazy!

I found some dioptase in my stash this week!!! Someone mentioned dioptase and I couldn't resist pulling it out (more like digging it out) and wrapping it up. I've had these pieces for awhile now and finally decided to part with them. It's not fair to keep them hoarded away in my collection forever---they need to be enjoyed!

Dioptase is one of my all time favorites and it has gotten very hard to find nice pieces for jewelry. It can be one of the most challenging gems to wrap, but, once you figure a piece out you are guaranteed a stunning pendant! The crystals are cubic and the crystals themselves or the entire cluster can be thick or awkwardly shaped. The challenge is to wrap the cluster without covering it up with wire or hurting the crystals... and... to set the piece so that it does not roll around or flip over when worn. I often get a piece started and then set it down for awhile to think of the best approach. It is certainly not a stone you can pre-plan... you have to learn as you go!!

New Chakra Pendants!

I have been wrapped up in a world of custom orders and requests and I didn't realize I haven't blogged in awhile---ooops! In between projects I managed to squeeze in a little play time to come up with some new wire wrapped chakra pendants and a new Reiki Cho Ku Rei Pendant. I wanted to share picture of a few of my favorites for the week!

I love working with the full spectrum of chakra gems. The only hard part is... as I'm working on these pieces I fall in love and can't bear to part with them! I was good this week... I listed all of them in my store.

The piece to the right is new... now that I am a Reiki Level 2 practitioner I can't help but find ways to include the Reiki Symbols in some of my creations. This piece has a tiny Cho Ku Rei wrapped into the design. It's is subtle, and so cute. The gems in this piece all focus on the lower chakras and the Cho Ku Rei really powers up this one, nice clearing and grounding energy.

Summer Inspired Face Cabochons

Summer is on the brain! I'm just finishing up my last batch of clay for the week and as you can see flowers, butterflies, and ladybugs are on the brain! We've been having lots of warm weather and the community pool is open... summertime is here!

I will be working on Jewelry the rest of this week! Once all of the clay I finished is listed it will be jewelry time. I've been spending lots of time on clay... and now I'm ready for jewelry!! I ordered lots of new wire and a few to try in my wire designs. I'll keep you posted as I find new stones and explore new designs this week!

Holy Hail Storm!!!!

Whew--did we ever have a storm in Lancaster this afternoon! Thunder, Rain, HAIL, lights flickering... all in a matter of 10 minutes. By the time I wrapped the car in blankets it was over. CRAZY!

We'll see whats in store for the rest of the day. It's been one of those weird days, not bad, just weird! Ever have one of those? Hopefully the cable and internet stay on! I don't care about lights I just need my internet!

Memorial Day Inspiration

Today I was on a mission... we visited Ft. McHenry in Baltimore earlier in the week and Ian and I watched the lowering of the flag. The giant flag was so beautiful I couldn't help but be inspired to try new face cabochons with flags in the design. I only managed to finish a handful of them, they took a long time to create, but they were worth the effort! All of the colors on the flags are caned polymer clay, no Paint!

This is the first time I have ever done faces with flags. Don't know why I never thought of it before.

Ebay Problems are FINALLY Getting to Me!

Okay... Tonight I am fed up with ebay! Ebay has been plagued with so many changes, glitches, and problems over the last year I could write a book about them. I am nearing my breaking point. I know I am not alone here, this entry is for everyone frustrated with ebay... sellers and buyers!

Earlier this week it was issues with my images and Inkfrog. No one could view the images in my 700 listings for a day. If my images aren't available I can't sell my wares. Now, there are issues with listing new items on ebay. This issue has been occurring for 2 weeks... on May 7th, we were told ebay was treating this as a "Priority Issue" and they are working on it... here it is MAY 23 and the problem still exists! Meaning, I can't list new items until the problem is resolved. I have dozens of new items and 100's of hours invested in new creations I can't list.

In the midst of all these glitches and problems ebay made sure they sent me my monthly bill on May 15th. Heaven forbid they not be paid!

I am an artist that relies on ebay. I work hard and take great pride in being a kind and responsible ebay seller. I squeak out enough money to pay my bills and survive (with Ian's help). If I don't have the ability to list and sell items, I can't stay in business... I can't pay the bills... I can't continue to do what I love to do!

I know I am small beans compared to what larger "powersellers" hand over to ebay... but little me managed to pay ebay thousands of dollars in seller fees last year. My jaw dropped when I did my taxes for 2008. And despite all of the fees I pay, I could get through to the pentagon easier than I can get real help from ebay.

When I tell people I am on ebay they look at me like I have 6 heads and say, with question in their voice, "Really?" Most have given up on ebay... and despite all of these issues I have hung in there. I have often contemplated etsy or creating my own website... this may be the push I need to make the move.

I will be sure to keep everyone posted. I have met so many wonderful people on ebay it kills me to think of moving. I hope my ebay friends will follow me to etsy or wherever I decide to go...I'll be sure to keep you posted while I figure it all out!

Today is my Birthday! Thank you to all who remembered, because I almost forgot!

I have been "claying" like CRAZY... I don't know what got into me but the last few days I have working with my clay like I've been possessed! I have SEVERAL dozen pieces made...now I have to take time to finish and paint them all! Lots of new designs and summer inspired pieces are on the way. I will be listing a sprinkling of pieces every few days.

I have a few jewelry orders I need to get started on. I hope I can find the same lust for working with wire that I found for my clay!!

New clay face designs on the way....

I just wanted to sneak on before bed to share two new polymer clay face designs. These aren't in my ebay store yet, it will be a few days....they are still in progress at the moment. I am loving the steam-punk feel to the piece above.

I've been working with new textures and clay surface treatments, experimenting with ink. They create some beautiful tie-dye like surface effects! The green piece to the right was actually an "accident.." My bottle of ink tipped over when I was done with it and splashed across the cab... when I looked the splash of ink created a perfect line of tears trailing down her left cheek... I decided to leave them. They were too perfect to wipe them off! Funny how accidents can create the most unique pieces.

Reiki First Degree & Me

What a crazy year it has been and how fast it has been moving along! Spring is here and I am inspired! I have been working on new clay and jewelry designs and on my Reiki certification. I just completed my Reiki First Degree Certification and the end of May I should be completing my Second Degree.

I am so excited to begin Reiki. As many know, I have been sensitive to the energy of crystals and stones all of my life and enjoy sharing this with others. I have been inspired by the art of Reiki healing for some time now.... this interest inspired my wire wrapped reiki pendant designs a few years ago.

Last week, I completed my first degree certification with Reiki Master, Marilyn Landis. (Thank you Marilyn for sharing your knowledge and experiences). I am excited to begin exploring and sharing Reiki... I will be sure to keep you posted as I progress and grow.

A Warm Weather Break!

Today was a nice (and much needed) break from everything! We packed up the dogs and the car and went hiking at Gifford Pinchot Park. We're out of shape, compliments of winter hibernation, so we only hiked a few miles. Ollie did real well...he walked the whole way and complained when we took a break in the middle, he wanted to keep going. I hope when I'm turning 98 I can walk 2 miles in the woods and still have the energy to beg for a cookie!

It was so nice to get some fresh air and sun. I wish there was a little more green, but I'm happy with the warmth for now! The leaves are just starting to bud...the trees have that red hue, no green yet. In a few weeks the dull grey of winter will be gone, thank goodness. I'm still all bundled up, my blood never thickened back up after living in South Florida for so long. Back to creating tomorrow!

I have been BUSY making and listing lots of new polymer clay face beads and cabochons. There are many new designs in refreshing spring colors and themes...butterflies, flowers, green leaves....and even a few with shamrocks for St. Patty's Day!

I've was hooked on my clay last week into this week...I think I needed a little springtime color. The weather warmed up a little here, but it is still very grey and muddy outside. What better way to brighten up the day than to work with brightly colored clay!

25 Random Things about ME!

I did the famous list of "25 Random Things about Me" for my facebook friends and thought I would cut and paste it here for all of my blog and ebay friends. I hope you'll get to know a little about me--the human-- and have a laugh too. The one thing I left out is that I have a wierd sense of humor...everything here is true and from my heart, even if it's a little strange!

It took me 5 years and 3 colleges to graduate with my bachelor’s degree in health administration. I worked 3 jobs (at the same time) while attending college to pay for tuition without taking out loans.
I moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 2 weeks after graduation and lived there for 11 years. I currently live in Lancaster, PA…needed a break from hurricanes. It can be stressful wondering if your house is going to blow away every summer. I hate cold & snow, and this time of year, I wonder why I’m back up north.
I stay up late---I mean real late. I go to bed when the sun is coming up. Insomnia?
I have 10 toes….5 on each foot. My second toes are longer than my big toes are. You know what they say about people with a longer second toe…. (royalty or the potential to be a werewolf, you pick)
I always thought I was going to be a scientist or a veterinarian. I majored in it for a few years. Unfortunately, I had so many serious lab mishaps in college my organic chem professor would only pass me if I promised not to come back. He told me if I majored in science I would be lucky if I could get a job testing horse pee. Years later he still mentioned my lab disasters as examples of what NOT to do in chemistry.
I worked in the healthcare industry for 14 years. I currently own my own business—designing and selling jewelry online and at local art galleries. I am often torn… I love creating, yet I miss the craziness of working in healthcare as a Marketing Director.
I have never been married and have no human children.
I love stones and crystals. My collection includes thousands of them. I am very sensitive to the energy of stones and believe they can affect our health, mood, environment, and more.
I am addicted to tea. I drink about 2 gallons of black tea a day.
I am of Polish, English, and Native American decent. My family used to joke that we build our tee-pees upside down and drink tea at high noon. Maybe that’s why I love tea so much, but I don’t live in a tee-pee.
After 10 years of no communication with my college boyfriend (Ian) he found me online, we typed back and forth…then talked all night on the phone…then he came to Florida to visit… and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
I own about 35 pairs of glasses… I like wearing different glasses all the time. I used to buy a couple pairs a month when I lived in Florida (they were cheap there). My prescription recently changed and I am freaking out at the thought of having to change all of those lenses!
I feel better in my 30’s than I did in my 20’s!
I bought my first Japanese car last year—a Toyota Matrix and I love it.
I am always cold since I moved up north. I don’t know what I would do without polar fleece, long johns, and electric blankets.
I love gardening and I’m not afraid of bugs or snakes as long as they are outside. I also love power tools and hand tools… I have lots of them and I know how to use them.
I hate cooking and I am a terrible, dangerous cook. I consider a successful meal one that does not bring about flesh wounds or fire.
I once had a yellow car that I loved…but I never buy yellow stuff… no yellow clothes, no yellow decorations, no yellow anything except for flowers and food.
I like ice hockey. My team is the Philly Flyers, has been since I can remember. Favorite player of all time-Ron Hextall.
I nearly died 2 weeks after my 30th birthday. I spent a few weeks in the hospital due to severe complications from a bad gall bladder. There are many (including myself) that did not think I would be here today.
The last two toasters I have owned were silver…the one before them was black. I am not sure why I remember the color of my toasters… but I do. I once remember my mom getting so mad at a toaster, that she ran down the driveway with it, and threw it in the street. That is a great memory, perhaps that is why toasters have a special place in my heart. Never trust a toaster though, no matter how great it is.
I am left handed at just about everything except for writing on paper and cutting paper.
I think my wiener dogs are smarter than many people. I sometimes wonder if they are smarter than I am.
I am forgetful and I am easily distracted. I notice the strangest things no matter where I am. I am especially good at finding foreign matter in my food.
Someone once referred to me, mom, and my sis as the “INFAMOUS BRIGHAM WOMEN.” I wish that person knew how true that statement is… in so many ways!

New Face Cabochons!

Finally some new designs!! I have been working on new clay faces and wanted to share a few of them. Most of these pieces mix burnt umber antiquing with metallic acrylics. I am loving the effect; the antiqued areas contrast nicely with the iridescent acrylics. The dragons are all metallic, achieved with embellishing powders rubbed into the raw clay.

A Diaper for a Male Dachshund Dog

This entry is for anyone faced with the dilemma of needing a diaper for your male dachshund. Dachshunds have no legs or hips to hold the pet store diapers on...they slip out of them like a snake. I hope this idea helps someone out there, I know how desperate I was to figure something out that worked and that our dog would agree to wear. Luckily Ollie only needs to wear his at bedtime and for long car rides.

Since starting medication for his heart failure Ollie has occasional incontinence at night. I needed to try diapers, as Ollie refuses to sleep anywhere other than the bed. I spent weeks looking in the pet stores and online for diaper solutions... after trying several ideas/contraptions I figured out my own solution that both Ollie & I can live with.

Here's what worked best for a 16 pound, very long, male dachshund dog. I bought a package of Gerber Baby Onesies (size 12 months) and modified them into a diaper holder:

I sewed the neck area to reinforce it and stop it from opening up on the sides and sliding down the dog
I sewed elastic straps to the bottom back of the onsie, about 6-7 inches long
I sewed a 2inch strip of velcro onto the ends of each elastic strap
I sewed the other side of the velco to the bottom front of the onesie

Voila, you have a diaper holder...for the "diaper" I stick a feminine pad inside the back of the onesie and put it on him backwards, so the back of the onesie goes along his belly with the pad inside. I'm sure you can make adjustments to suit your pooch, luckily Ollie was a pretty easy fit. He doesn't mind wearing it and it keeps the bed dry. We've only had 2 small leaks in the last several months--not bad! You can see Ollie sporting his "pajamas" (we don't call it a diaper around him) in the picture above.

The pads I found work and fit best are Walmart Super Absorbent Overnight pads with Wings, a teal and melon orange package. I tried Always, Kotex, Serenity, and multiple other brands and for some reason the Walmart pads work the best--and they are very affordable (about $5.00 for 28). The other brands leaked out the sides or would come unglued and stick to his fur.

Hope this helps, if so please leave a comment for Ollie & I. Ollie is a proud, active, happy senior dog that is on diuretics and blood pressure medication to help his heart failure. These meds cause him to have to pee a lot... he is good during the day, but at night he has accidents/leakage. We can't fault him for that...I'll probably have the same problem when I'm his age...13 going on 14.

Goddess Pendants

I've been busy creating this week! Lots of new rings and pendants...and more on the way. My picks of the day are these goddess pendants. I found a few of the focal cabs in my stash today and had to wrap them. I had forgotten about them. I love working with these...I enjoy making each one different, like a little shrine.

The first picture is a goddess of creativity, wisdom, and strength... the paua shell goddess is holding a Himalayan Diamond Quartz crystal and has 2 sapphires at her feet. Paua shell promotes creativity, and when centered within this triad of gems she surrounded by strength, energy, and wisdom. I think we can all use a little of these energies in our life!!

The second goddess is a creative paua goddess with a Himalayan DQ crystal to he left and a set of 7 chakra gems to her right (sugilite, sapphire, amazonite, bloodstone, aragonite, Baltic amber, & carnelian). Aside from all of the amazing energy she is surrounded by, I think she is a reminder that we need balance in our lives.

Karate Kristie? Who knew!

So, what have I been doing other than making new things? Taking Kenpo Karate classes! Ian and I decided we needed to get our buts off the couch before we turn into total potatoes. So three days a week we take kenpo karate classes with Mr. Eric at Black Dragon Kenpo Karate Studio in Manheim, PA.

Last week I earned my Yellow belt and now it's onto orange. I'm not a natural when it comes to Karate, it takes me LOTS of practice. It definitely beats sitting on the sofa and it never hurts to learn self defense. I think all of my years in healthcare took that killer/fighting instinct out of me. So, I'm working hard to get it back.

Perhaps I'll design something karate inspired. Hmmmmm.....
